About the Client
The client provides healthcare analytics solutions for Private Equity-backed healthcare organizations that acquire and operate multiple medical practices.
When Private Equity firms consolidate practices into a single organization, each clinic often operates on a different Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Electronic Health Record (EHR), or Practice Management System (PMS). This creates fragmented operational and financial data across the organization.
The client needed a platform capable of collecting data from multiple EMR/EHR systems, normalizing it into a unified structure, and enabling consolidated analytics across all acquired practices.
The goal was to provide leadership teams with centralized visibility into clinical performance, patient activity, and financial metrics across the entire healthcare portfolio.
Platform Stability During Rapid Platform Updates
- Private equity healthcare groups like to expand by buying up different practices, but these places rarely run on the same EMR, EHR, or management tools. Each system stores data its own way. So when you try to pull everything together — operations, finances, clinic performance — it’s a mess. Leadership is basically flying blind. T
- hey can’t easily see how clinics are doing, spot trends, or make smart decisions to grow and fix things.
- Key challenges included:
- • Every practice has its own EMR/EHR. None of them talk to each other.
- • Patient info, procedures, billing—saved in all kinds of formats, none consistent.
- •As a result, leaders can’t get a clear view across the portfolio. There’s no single dashboard.
- • Some EMRs offer APIs, but others need custom data extraction. It’s never simple.
- • And since the group keeps adding practices, whatever solution they build needs to grow with them. There’s just more data piling up every day.
Unified EMR Data Collection Platform
Scimus developed a centralized data collection platform designed to extract and consolidate information from multiple EMR, EHR, and practice management systems used by healthcare practices within Private Equity portfolios.
The platform includes a set of custom data connectors capable of collecting patient records, appointments, procedures, and financial data from different healthcare software systems. Extracted data is processed through a normalization pipeline and stored in a unified database structure designed for analytics.
By standardizing data from multiple EMR/EHR systems into a consistent format, the platform enables healthcare organizations to analyze performance metrics across all practices within the portfolio.
This unified data layer supports business intelligence tools and reporting systems that provide leadership teams with visibility into clinical activity, operational efficiency, and financial performance across the entire healthcare organization.
